FAQs

Q: How long should I burn my candle the first time?

A: You should burn your candle the first time until the wax pools all the way to the edges of the vessel.

Q: When should I stop burning my candle?

A: You should stop burning and discontinue use of your candle when 1/2 an inch of wax remains.

Q: Should I trim the wick?

A: Yes! Your wick should be trimmed to 1/4 inch every time before you light your candle. Trimming your wick consistently will make your candle last 25% longer.

Q: How long do the 8 oz candles burn for?

A: We use the highest quality soy wax combined with clean burning cotton wicks, allowing for a burn time of up to 80 hours.

Q: Why choose soy?

A: Soy is a healthier, more eco-friendly option than the cheaper paraffin wax often found at your local “bath & body” stores. Soy also burns slower and cleaner than paraffin wax, emitting less soot and no petroleum fumes.

Q: Why does frosting happen?

A: Frosting is a completely natural process with soy wax and can occur with different fluctuations in temperatures. It doesn’t affect the performance of your candle in any way.

Q: Are the scents phthalate-free?

A: YES, all of our scents are phthalate-free. We don’t want any harmful chemicals contaminating your candles.

Candle Safety

Before Lighting:

  • Before lighting, always trim the wick to 1/4 inch. Crooked or long wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring.

  • Keep the wax pool clear of all debris to include wick trimmings, and matches.

  • Always use a heat resistant, sturdy candleholder specifically designed for candle use. It should be large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.

Burn candles in a well-ventilated room:

  •  Avoid any vents, drafts, or air currents. This will help prevent uneven or rapid burning, sooting, and excessive dripping.

  • In general, it is recommended that candles do not burn for longer than four hours and cool for at least two hours before relighting.

  • When lighting a candle, use a long-reach lighter, or long matches. Keep your hair, loose clothing, and other combustibles away from the flame.

While Burning:

  • Never leave a candle unattended.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from all combustibles.

  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by anyone.

  • Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquefied.

  • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Keep it safe by discontinue burning a candle when 1/2 inch remains in the container or 2 inches if using a pillar candle.

  • Place burning candles at least three inches apart from other candles. This is to ensure they don’t melt one another or create drafts that will cause the candles to burn improperly.

  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool, trim the wick appropriately, and check for unwanted air drafts before re-lighting.

  • Never use a candle as a night light or while you may fall asleep.

When Extinguishing a Candle:

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle.

  • Never use water to extinguish a candle.

  • Before leaving the room make sure the candle flame is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing.

  • Don’t touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.

  • Never use a sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass vessel. It might damage, weaken, or cause the glass to break upon subsequent use.
